Welcome to the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois

The Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI) is a not-for-profit corporation that was established in 1995. HLAI was formed through the joining of its predecessor organizations, the Latin American Bar Association and the Mexican American Lawyers Association, which had previously served the Hispanic legal community in Illinois since 1970.

Mission Statement
To promote high standards of competence, professionalism and integrity with and among Hispanic attorneys and the Hispanic communities within the State of Illinois. Promote legal education and civil rights among Hispanic attorneys and the community. Foster a fraternal and collegial network of Hispanic attorneys and provide them a forum for exchanges with local, national and international legal organizations and the judiciary. Provide a forum through which Hispanic attorneys and their achievements, goals and aspirations may be promoted within the legal profession. Promote the common business interest, professional development and general welfare of Hispanic attorneys. Address social, economic and other issues which may affect the Hispanic community. Provide a forum for the dissemination of information vital to the interests of Hispanic attorneys or their community. Promote empowerment of the Hispanic community through the support of its community organizations. Promote cultural identity and encourage and foster communication and networking among association members, their community and attorneys throughout the world.

HLAI is an Affiliate of the Hispanic National Bar Association. As an HLAI member, for a $20 annual fee, you can join the Hispanic National Bar Association as an “Affiliate Attorney.” HLAI does not take payment on behalf of the HNBA. Please visit www.hnba.com to become a member of the HNBA.
