Janneth Herrera is an attorney working at the Chicago Transit Authority’s (“CTA”) Law Department, and is currently serving as a designated Assistant Freedom of Information Officer for CTA within the Compliance, Policy, and Appeals Division. Her current concentration is in administrative and regulatory law.
Ms. Herrera graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2014, where she was actively involved and served on the board for the Latino/a Law Student Association, Women’s Law Society, and was a member of the Federal Civil Rights Clinic. Before attending law school, Janneth worked as a legal coordinator for a law firm in downtown Chicago after graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and International Studies in 2007 from Loyola University Chicago.
Janneth has been actively engaged in HLAI since law school where she participated in the HLAI’s JD Mentor program. Currently, Janneth is serving as a Co-Chair for the HLAI’s CLE Committee, a member of the Planning Committee for the Minority Bar CLE Conference, and is still involved in the JD Mentor program, but now in a new role as mentor to a law student. She also a is a member of HNBA and served on Region IX’s 2015-2016 Finance Development Committee, to fundraise for the HNBA’s 2016 Annual Convention in Chicago. Janneth is also an active member of other organizations, such as the Illinois State Bar Association and Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.
